CL2025 returns to Birmingham, UK, following previous CL conferences in Birmingham in 2005, 2007, 2011, and 2017. For the first time, the conference will take place at Aston University, which is located on a green, 60-acre, self-contained site in the centre of Birmingham, within 5-10 minutes' walk of the main shopping, business and entertainment areas of the city.
The main CL2025 conference programme will take place at Aston University from Monday 30th June - Thursday 3rd July 2025.
Conference talks and morning/afternoon coffee breaks will take place in the Main Building (number 1 on the campus map).
Lunch will be served daily in the Courtyard Restaurant at Conference Aston, in Aston Business School, which is next to the Main Building (number 5 on the campus map).
Travelling by plane
The nearest airport is Birmingham Airport (BHX), formerly known as Birmingham International Airport. A free shuttle service runs regularly between Birmingham Airport and Birmingham International train station, and takes less than 10 minutes. The train from Birmingham International train station to Birmingham New Street train station (Birmingham city centre) takes around 10-20 minutes, depending on the service.
Travelling by train
Train timetable information is available from National Rail. The nearest stations (Birmingham New Street, Snow Hill, and Moor Street) are 10-15 minutes away from Aston University.
Travelling by coach or bus
Coach timetable information is available from National Express. The nearest coach station is in Digbeth, and it is a 20-minute walk through the city centre to Aston University.
Bus timetable information is available from National Express West Midlands. Numerous buses stop at Aston University.
Travelling by tram
Birmingham is served by a tram network known as West Midlands Metro. Journey planner and timetable information is available from West Midlands Metro. The nearest tram stop to Aston University is Bull Street, which is about 10 minutes away.
The CL2025 pre-conference workshop day will take place at Birmingham Business School at the University of Birmingham (O3 on the campus map) on Sunday 29th June.
The University of Birmingham is served by its own dedicated train station: University station. Up to six trains an hour depart for the University from Birmingham New Street station on the cross-city line (ten minutes to University station, final destination Longbridge or Redditch). The centre of the main campus is five minutes from University station.
